NEWS: Preview of Kindred’s Iconic Public Art Collection

When Kindred, the premier ski-front property in Keystone, debuts later this year, it’s expected to turn heads and garner attention – not just for its luxury service, prime ski-in location and unmatched amenities, but also for its impressive public art collection. Every detail of Kindred has been intentionally designed to create an exceptional experience from the exquisite stonework on the exterior of the building to the murals adorning the corridors.

Two site-specific murals by artist Vanessa Platacis will welcome guests to Lula’s Restaurant within The Kindred Hotel. Called “The Portal” these murals depict a geological narrative from the geometric shapes of minerals mined in the Colorado Rockies that morph into native plants and flowers and finally reveal a view of Keystone’s ski slopes.

“At Kindred, we’re not just building a building. We’re focused on creating a legacy and place making – we aim to create a new space for people to gather and to be inspired,” says Ryan Geller, partner with the Kindred development team. Geller and his Kindred team have an innovative vision that’s transforming the site of the former skier parking lot into a social hub featuring a RockResort managed hotel, 95 luxury residences and private club, in addition to a spa, three restaurants, the new home for the Keystone ski & snowboard school and … iconic artwork that will create one-of-a-kind experience.

The Kindred Resort team broke ground in the fall of 2022 on the real estate project, one of the most exciting and largest in the ski industry. Construction is progressing quickly, with the anticipated completion date in the summer/fall of 2025.

Kindred has partnered with award-winning art consulting firm, NINE dot ARTS, the team responsible for Denver’s Dairy Block art installations, along with other notable hospitality projects around the world, to create a public art collection at the slopeside luxury property – that includes exterior sculptures, as well as a mix of fine art print, murals, ceramic installations and original pieces.

Kindred is unveiling a sneak preview of some of the pieces, including: a functional sculpture that will greet guests upon arrival at Kindred’s porte cochère.

Liz Langyher, a Denver-based artist, has been commissioned to create a colorful, playful ceramic installation on the ground level, near the Fitness Center. The piece will be composed of 30 ceramic cloud forms ranging from 4″ to 24″ in diameter with a variety of textures to create an “eternal sunset” and brighten one of Kindred’s corridors.

Other artists have been selected from around the world to create paintings, prints and murals to celebrate the Colorado Rockies and the spirit of Kindred and hospitality. Here’s a sampling of the artwork. We look forward to telling more of the stories and showcasing the artists.
